BOUNTIFUL BASKETS

Wow, so I have so not been good at posting deals lately! Sorry! I hope you have been having fun and success with coupons and deals. I have been wanting to post about this for a little while, but wanted to try it out first, to see if it was indeed a good deal. Well, let me tell you IT IS! Bountiful Baskets is a Food Co-op that was started in Arizona, spread to Utah and now has hit Idaho. How it works is you make a contribution of $15.00 for a basket of food (Usually six vegetable items and six fruit items.) The first time you order there is a $3.00 extra fee, but that is only on your first time. The food is bought in bulk, so you get more food for your money, and the food is way more fresh than what you find in stores, Though some of the fruit still needs a day or two to fully ripen. I got this basket today, and it had

Carrots
lettuce
Red Chard
Mushrooms
Grape tomatoes
Broccoli
Pineapple
Apples
Oranges
Melon
Blackberries
Bananas

Everything that is pictured cost me just $15.00 plus my $3.00 fee for first time. So worth every penny! If you are interested you go to www.bountifulbaskets.org and there is a spot where they explain how it works. Essentially, you purchase your basket between Monday and Tuesday and then you pick it up on Saturday at the pick-up spot you choose when ordering. There are several spots around Idaho Falls to choose from, I got mine at Sandcreek Middle school. The only catch is that they only have a certain number of baskets to purchase each week, and when they are gone they are gone. The purchase time starts at 7:00 on Monday night, so it is best to get on early and order. Good Luck! It is so worth it.

POWERADE!

For those of you who love sports drinks, Smith's has a GREAT price on Powerade this week. It is on sale for $.25! To get this price you need to purchase in sets of 8, and can only buy a max of 120 at a time. You do not have to purchase them in different transactions, the drinks are $.75, but are part of the March to Savings event where if you buy 8 participating products you get $4.00 off instantly at checkout. So they ring up as $.75 each and then you just wait as the computer takes off $4.00 for every eight. 120 powerades comes out to just under $32.00!

POST CEREAL SALE!

I want to pass along a great deal that is happening at Albertson's this week. It will only work until Sunday, so don't wait to long to do your shopping.

Albertson's has some of their post cereal on sale for $1.59 a box (Honey Bunches of Oats; Fruity Pebbles; Honeycomb; Golden Crisp; and Raisen Bran) Well, there is a Catalina that runs from 2/26-3/21 (Sunday)
Where if you buy four boxes you get a $3.00 good on your next shopping trip coupon that will print at checkout;
buy Five or more and you get a $4.00 coupon on your next shopping trip that will print at checkout;

So, you will do best to buy your cereal in groups of five

Buy 5 boxes of cereal = $7.95 plus tax
Get back a $4.00 Catalina
(about $.79 a box when considering the $4.00 coupon)

You can then turn around and do the transaction again only this time

Buy 5 boxes of cereal = 7.95 plus tax
Use the $4.00 catalina = 3.95 plus tax out of pocket cost
get a $4.00 catalina back

If you head on over to A Thrifty Mom http://athriftymom.com/2010/03/post-cereal-sale-starts-march-17th/ she has some scenarios listed using doublers and coupons (which we did not get here in Idaho, but you can order on ebay or other coupon clipping sites)

Just remember that the Catalina only runs through the 21st, so don't wait to long!

Thanks http://athriftymom.com/ for the information!

Albertson's Promo Deal

Albertson's has a promo deal running this week where if you buy $20.00 or more of participating General Mills Products you will save $7.00 on your next shopping trip. Usually this kind of promotion is great because the $20.00 is before store and manufacture coupons, thus your out of pocket cost can be lower than the $20.00. Also, you can usually roll the coupon into your next transaction and use the $7.00 to lower your next out of pocket cost.

Well, this time there is some fine print in the Ad that I want to make sure you are aware of. It states that the minimum purchase requirements is after manufacturer and store coupons, and also that there is a limit of one $7.00 coupon offer per customer. So, if your store is following these rules, you will not be able to roll the $7.00 into another transaction and get $7.00 back again, and your total will have to be $20.00 after your coupons have been scanned. :( Hopefully this is not a permanent thing for the store now. However, every store has their own way of following the rules so you may want to ask at yours!

$100 in coupons from P&G with $50.00 purchase

This deal has been posted all over the Internet, so I am not sure exactly who to give credit to...

If you head over to http://www.thankyoumom.com/coupons.jsp P&G is offering coupon books with $100 worth of coupons if you purchase $50.00 worth of P&G products between February 1st and April 15, 2010. This says it is before coupons, and there are a lot of deals to be found on P&G products. You just save your receipts (they do not have to be on the same receipt), print out the form, and mail it all in. Then you just have to wait until you receive the coupon book in the mail! This is a great way to build up your coupon supply. P&G has so many brands for household products so make sure to check it out. More than likely you will easily meet the $50.00!

Free Johnson's Soap Buddies

Smartsource has put out a new coupon for $1.00 / 1 Johnson Baby's product. You can use this coupon on the Johnson's Soap Buddies that are around $1.00 at Target and Walmart and other stores http://coupons2.smartsource.com/smartsource/index.jsp?Link=5S2ZUA6PWPEPO It was the first coupon that came up on the page for me. I have gotten a few of these for my kids and they really like them. The coupon states not on trial size items, and this product is a regular sized item and should work just fine.

There is also a $2.00 / 2 Right Guard coupon on Smartsource as well, that you may want to print. It doesn't exclude size so you can use it to get two free trial size deodorants! Remember, when using coupons you get the best deal if you use it on the smallest size product you can, and when there is not a size restriction you should be able to use it on the trial size product.

And then also there is a coupon for $1.00 / 1 Johnson Shampoo and it does not have a size restriction either, so you can use it to get some free Baby Shampoo in the trial section of many stores. Here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=rlsudhw9869799&bt=wi&o=9997&c=JB&p=BdK9cFm0 These are great for baby gift baskets!

CREST CAVITY PROTECTION TOOTHPASTE ON $.04!

This week you can get Crest Cavity Protection toothpaste for only $.04! To do this you will be stacking a manufacturers coupon with a store coupon at Walgreens! This deal should work until 2/27, so that means there is a couple of weeks to take advantage of this deal! I love stocking up on toothpaste when it is free or super cheap!
So purchase 1 Crest Cavity Protection toothpaste (6.4 oz.) regularly priced at $2.29
Use the .75/1 coupon from 2/7 PG insert
Stack that with the $1.50/1 Walgreens coupon from the February coupon booklet {expires 2/27!} (The monthly Walgreens coupon booklets are usually found at the front of the store. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! I apologize for the lack of posting the last little while. This post has no great deal in it, but I just want to say how thankful I am for all of those in my life I get to love and who love me. I am at home with just my little baby this weekend for Valentine's Day. Last year it was just me and her also, the other two kids and husband had gone off on a family vacation and since the baby was only a few weeks old, I opted out and got the rest I needed. Well this year, after packing the car and heading out of town to visit family, my beautiful little girl decided it was a good time to get a stomach bug. So needless to say, her and I have been laying around, and doing lots of laundry the last two days. It sure makes you realize how much you have and are blessed with when you go without for a few days. I am so blessed with a wonderful husband and three great kids whom I love more than I ever thought possible. I hope you all have a great day with your loved ones and continue to show your love and appreciation not just today, but all year long.

ASKING QUESTIONS

So I wanted to share an experience that I had today regarding using coupons. Two days ago I headed into Albertson's to get a deal on some diapers. There is a coupon out for $4.00 off of Diaper Basics (the Albertson's brand of diapers) with a purchase of $7.00 or more. I had heard the diapers were on sale, so I headed over there to see and sure enough they were. I picked up two boxes of the diapers since I had two coupons, and went to check-out. The first coupon scanned just fine, but the second one beeped (AAHHH!) The cashier was very nice and checked the coupon out, reading the wording and saying he was not sure what was wrong. He asked another checker, who looked at the coupon, stated that there was not a correct bar code on the coupon, and that it was fraudulent. I was of course embarrassed, I informed them I had gotten the coupon off of a valid coupon source, the numbers on the coupon were different, and there was even the watermark on the coupon (a few things to check to make sure the coupon is valid as I know there are fraudulent ones out there). The checker voided off the first coupon and told me they couldn't use them. I did buy the diapers, but the deal was not that good.

I went home and looked up the diapers on-line and found the company e-mail. I e-mailed them asking whether the coupon was good or not. I received a reply the next day, apologizing for the misunderstanding and that the coupon was good and the store had been notified of the problem. I thought that was the end, and was glad to know I had not been trying to use a bad coupon, and sometimes that is just the way it goes.

Well, today I got a call from the local store manager. He first apologized for the hassle and that the coupon had not been taken as it should have. They have a two page list of coupons that are frauds and he felt the checkers must have just been misinformed. Anyway, he was very nice, and said they had just had a meeting to let all the checkers know this coupon is valid, and to apologize there would be a gift card waiting for me the next time I go into the store!! What a great surprise, and such a nice apology at that. I had not intended to get anything out of it, other than to know if I could use the coupon, and if I should spread the word or not, but WOW!

So long story short, make sure to stick-up for yourself using the knowledge you have, but don't get mean. The checkers are trying their best to help the customers, and with all the bad coupons out there, it may be yours that is not taken. You can just leave without the item, or still buy it as I did, and then it doesn't hurt to do some checking around and even sending the company an e-mail can't hurt. You never know what will come your way

SIDE NOTE: To get the Baby Basic coupon go to http://moneysavingmom.com/2010/02/41-baby-basics-diaper-coupon.html where Money Saving Mom has a post and a link for the coupon. There is also a link to check and see if the diapers are sold in a store near you.

Thanks Money Saving Mom for the tip on the coupon!

FREE BIRTHDAY CAKE ON YOUR FIRST BIRTHDAY!

I had heard that Alberson's used to give a free birthday cake to a child on their first birthday. Since my little girl is turning one next week, I picked up the phone and called Albertson's. Well, they still do it! (at least the one in Ammon) Apparently, it depends on the store, some do and some don't so make sure to call or ask your Albertson's before ordering. You do have to order a little in advance, so I went in today and put in my order, so that we can celebrate her birthday on Sunday. I had the choice of Chocolate or white, and whipped cream or buttercream frosting. They will also personalize it for you! I will let you know how it is when we get it, but I have yet to eat a bad cake from there so I am sure it will be Delicious!
UPDATE! I just wanted to post a picture of the cake that I got for my baby! It turned out so cute and was really good!

PRICE MATCHING, ALBERTSON'S DOUBLERS, AND PEPSI!

Well, I found out something new today in my shopping trips. I had heard that if you price matched the ALL laundry detergent from the Big Lots ad this week of 2/$5 and then used a coupon for either $3.00 / 2 or $1.00 / 1 or there is a $2.00 / 1 ( I didn't have this one, it was regional and we got the $3.00 / 2 here, but I hear you can get them) that the detergent would be from $.50 - $1.50 a bottle. So since this is the ONLY detergent that doesn't irritate my kids skin, I headed to Walmart with Big Lots ad and coupons! I was so excited to see that they actually had some of the detergent on their shelves! I loaded up my cart, got my other groceries and headed to check-out. Well, apparently, Walmart doesn't price match Big Lots! (At least according to this checker). I purchased my other things and left with not detergent.

I packed the kids up and headed to Target to try my luck there. (This was the first time I had tried to price match there, it was SO EASY!) I found the detergent, loaded 10 into my cart, checked out the toy clearance isle (not much left, but did get two things) and headed to customer service. They were super nice and had no problem matching Big Lots ad, so long as I had the entire ad with me. So here is a quick pic of what I got...

Ten ALL Detergent regularly $4.99 = $49.99
Price match 2 / $5.00 or $2.50 each = $25.00
- 5 $3.00 / 2 coupons from newspaper insert (not sure which one)
One pair of Spiderman skates clearanced $4.98
One Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader game clearanced $4.98
TOTAL = $22.06!
This would have normally cost me $90.00 plus tax!

I also thought I would share a few more deals I got today
Albertson's

After coupons = $1.70
I used buy 2 gallons milk get 1/2 gallon chocolate milk free
$1.00 any 2lb cheese on Coupons.com
Alberson's coupons Tillamock chess $3.99
$1.00 off coupons for Crest Pro Heath plus doublers
$.50 off halls cough drops plus doublers
I did this in three transactions and I did use two OYNO catalinas from last week

And finally, my husband is a Pepsi person. I have a hard time finding 12 packs for under $2.50, so when Walgreen's ad came out I new what I was getting there! They have their Pepsi 12 packs on sale 5 / $15.00 which is an okay deal, but if you buy $20.00 worth of participating products you get $10.00 Register Rewards to use on your next trip. So, I got 5 cases of pepsi, and added two bags of Tostitos chips which are 2 / $5.00 this made my total over $20.00 so I got the $10.00 RR.

Total $21.60
When you factor in the $10.00 RR you get the Pepsi for $2.00 and the two bags of chips are free! I did do this transaction twice (yes my husband will go through them all!) but you can not us the RR on your second transaction if you want another one to print. I am saving both of mine for the deal that is suppose to be coming next week on Huggies diapers!

FINISH DISHWASHER TABS

I just wanted to pass on a great deal I got today. I was at Family Dollar in Idaho Falls, (not the Dollar store) and they had the Finish Powerball dishwasher tabs 12 count for $3.00. I had the coupon from the 1/3 smart source insert for $2.50 off any Quantum, Powerball or Gel Tabs. I was able to get them for $.50! I had five coupons since I get five sunday papers and now won't have to buy dishwashing detergent for awhile! I have heard that you can get the 20 count at Walmart for $3.87 which makes them $1.37 a box, but I have not checked this out myself and Walmart prices seem to vary by area. This coupon expires on the 31st of the month and is a really high value one, so don't let it expire!

ALBERTSON'S PROMO AND DOUBLERS!

Sorry for the absence of posts lately. I had a great holiday and have had a hard time getting back into a routine again. BUT... I am ready to tackle coupons again, and what better way to start than a week with doublers and a promo at Alberson's! I have not gotten my list ready for shopping yet, but the new shopping list are up on pinchingyourpennies.

I want to pass on a post by thekrazycouponlady where there are a lot of great scenarios posted by bloggers. One of my favorites is by confessionsofacouponaholic. It has a really good scenario mapped out if you are still trying to figure out the system and want to "copy" someone in the transactions they did. Again if you come across any good deals or have a great scenario you would like to share please let me know and I will try to pass on the information!
